Seascapes have always been a challenge for me, but I’ve always felt strongly about painting them. I grew up next to the ocean, and to this day, the minute I walk onto a beach, I immediately feel calm. The sound of crashing waves is one of my favourite sounds, and with this painting, I wanted to somehow capture that sound — if that makes any sense! I’m really happy with how this piece turned out, and I consider it my first successful seascape. It feels a little extra special because of that.
